Decomposing Violet
Decomposing Violet is the first complete song I wrote back when this project began. The recording here is of a practice session when we formed what has become our ongoing line-up, though since then the drummer and bassist have moved on and been replaced several times.
Board the windows
and bar the doors
When the shit hits the fan
I’m hitting the floor
I gotta tell ya,
I don’t feel all right
Got her tied at the feet and wrists
I think I’m gonna drink ’til I’m thoroughly pissed
Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em
It’s gonna be a long night
How could it end?
We used to be friends and
Neighbors, family, all around me
Trying to get in
I closed the door
On the outside world
Paranoid? I think not
You’re out to get me
You’re all I’ve got
There’s a part of me
That won’t give in
Rending tight, right through her skin
Denial reigns and sense resigns
Restraint gives way
Panic ensues
It’s a special moment
From me to you
Like an abattoir
On your settee
How could it end?
We used to be friends and
Neighbors, families, all around me
Dying to get in
I closed the door
On the outside world
Paranoid? I think not
You’re out to get me
You’re all I’ve got
Well there’s no more room in here
And there’s no more room down there
And there’s no more room in…
Hell.
Is it the end of times?
I guess that’s just fine
Then the responsibility’s
out of my hands
It slips away
As your flesh gives way
It breaks my heart
It *breaks* my heart
‘Til death
Until death
Tears us apart
