Silent Movies
A cautionary tale, Silent Movies tells the story of a jilted lover who can’t come to grips with his loss. Deciding to kill himself under his lover’s house, he manages to haunt the place, with the intent to scare her to death so they can be together in death. While he does manage to give her a fright, she falls and doesn’t end up dead at all. Now watching over her in the hospital, he has ample time to regret his poor decision.
There was a time that marked the death of me
The most beautiful girl I’d ever seen
I knew at once that she’d be mine
It was only just a matter of time
When you told me we were through
Something broke inside
Something slithered through
You see me looking and if looks could kill
If I can’t have you no one will
I’m not one to tell a lie, so
I’ll see you soon on the other side
I’m not one to be held back
I got a straight razor and a fifth of Jack
Now shadows shift from things unseen
Your dreams reveal such awful things
Something pounding on all your doors
Wailing seeps up through the floor
I had this thought inside my head
We’d be together again
Once you were dead
You took a tumble on down the stairs
and ended up in a coma instead
I’m not one to contemplate
But if I think on it
I think I made a mistake
I’m not one to do what I’m told
I didn’t cross the street, no
I went up the road
and it’s…
Another cold dark night
Sitting in your room
I only did what I said I’d do
If I could I’d bring you flowers
but incorporeal powers
Only seem to bring doom
I gave you footsteps behind your back
Icy fingers around your neck
I did what I promised to
But what’s haunting me
Is I’m haunting you
